“Being a special education and language arts teacher at CSE – LC has open doors for me as a professional and as a person. I believe I have been able to touch students’ lives in many ways: First, being a teacher and giver of knowledge to all my students, being an advocate and a voice for students who need to be heard, having the opportunity to share my life experiences with my students, and find the best in all my students, no matter how small. Teaching is a challenging profession, no matter type of school you chose to work in. The unique and individualized program that CSE – LC is able to provide for students who need extra academic support and services. I love working here because I know that the education I am able to impart to our students will better their lives and make them productive citizens in our city of Erie!” (Jennifer Rahal-Moore)

"As a new employee, my observations are based on the short time I have roamed these halls. Looking back on the three months I have taught here I am impressed by the wide array of students that call this building home. Within this unique school community, students of various ethnicities cohabitate without the tensions, or differences, that I have observed in other schools throughout the area. What I feel most strongly about, and love being an integral part of, is the unique role that a teacher plays in this building. Not only do we (teachers) provide the skills necessary to work toward a diploma, but we also act as a mentor, advisor, and sometimes-friend. It seems that so many of our students have struggled through school, and life, lacking the supports vital to success. Knowing that students in our building trust me enough to seek guidance beyond the typical "teacher" role is one of the many reasons I am proud to call myself a teacher at the Charter School of Excellence-Leadership Center." (Ryan Cassidy)

"I believe that through positive staff interactions, introductions to ART and Skillstreaming, and also joining with family, these students were guided towards their success. I am not confident that they would have been able to meet such a positive outcome at a traditional school. I am grateful to be part of a team that uncovers the strengths in an individual instead of focusing on their weaknesses." (Dan Hanas)

"Working at Perseus House Charter School of Excellence Leadership Center provides me with the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our youth. Those barriers that they stumble upon are ones that I never had to face and for me it is humbling to see them make it despite their hardships. Since I began working here, I have been to every graduation. That is my reward!" (Nurse Karol Taylor)

"In three years, I haven’t seen any bullying at our school, while various races and ethnic backgrounds freely interact without rancor. Watching them during class changes, I pick up the general vibe of our student body as being positive and energetic. I see kids laughing and smiling, doing the required work with little complaining." (Teacher, Robert Dunlap)
