Testimonials

Hello. My name is Marie. I'm sixteen years old and I am currently a student at the Perseus House Charter School of Excellence. I've been there almost a full school year. I'm proud to say that they (the staff and teachers) gave me a whole new meaning to what an education is.

Before attending the charter school, I was a stay-at-home kid. I missed school so much. I always had attendance problems at all my other schools including my last one, Central High. I never got any help or encouragement from my teachers to attend school, I was just the kid that was never at school because I stopped being interested in the education that I needed. I thought to myself, "You might as well quit school because you're a failure. You'll never make it and you won't graduate."

Just as Ithought there was no hope I heard of the Perseus House Charter School of Excellence and I said, "OK, I'll give it a try because I know I can do it."

So I came for the interview and a few days later I started attending. At the beginning, everything was going good. I wasn't missing any school days. Suddenly, I was slacking again. I didn't want to come to school, I just wanted to stay home and sleep all day. Until one day, my game with attendance was over. For the first time in my life, I got filed to court and I believe that having a court hearing is a very serious thing. After that, I stopped missing school. I changed the way that I looked at life and school. Why should I throw away an education that will take me somewhere in life when I'm older? It makes no sense at all.

I thank the staff and teachers who helped me stay in school and encouraged me to attend school. I'm now a better person and I believe I've made a good turnaround in life. I encourage everyone to make a u-turn in their life for the better, and I guarantee that you'll see it pay off in the end.

Thank you, Perseus House.
